Domestic Sales Drive Growth

The core driver behind the Tata car sales in December 2025 was the domestic passenger vehicle market. With over 50 thousand units sold, Tata showed resilience in a month often marked by seasonal fluctuations and inventory adjustments at dealerships. The domestic tally of 50,046 units was up more than 5,800 units compared with December 2024, signalling sustained buyer interest.

Model-wise contributions were led by SUVs and compact offerings within Tata’s portfolio, though the company did not publish a detailed month-wise segmentation for every variant. On a broader level, core models such as the Tata Nexon, Punch, Tiago and Altroz continued to be key volume contributors across hatchback and SUV segments throughout the year and in the year-end sales push.

Electric Vehicles Shine in Tata’s December Results

Tata’s electric vehicles played an important role in the monthly results. In December 2025, electric vehicle sales stood at 6,906 units, marking a healthy 24.16 % year-on-year increase over 5,562 EVs sold in December 2024. Vehicles under the Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd umbrella — including popular models such as the Nexon EV and Punch EV— were key contributors to this growth as EV adoption in India gained pace.

The EV numbers also formed part of the larger picture for Tata in 2025, as the company set a new annual record with 81,125 electric vehicles sold across the calendar year, reinforcing its leadership in the passenger EV segment in India.

Exports Surge, Reflecting Broader Market Reach

Another standout aspect of the Tata car sales in December 2025 was the significant growth in export volumes. Tata Motors exported 473 passenger vehicles in December — a dramatic 701.69 % year-on-year jump compared with 59 units exported in December 2024. This surge highlights Tata’s expanding footprint in international markets, including regions such as South Africa, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

The export performance adds a strategic dimension to Tata’s overall health, complementing robust domestic demand and ensuring a more diversified revenue and volume profile as global economic conditions evolve.

Comparing Monthly Performance

While Tata’s year-on-year growth was strong, month-on-month (MoM) figures told a slightly different story. Tata’s domestic sales in December 2025 were 12.87 % lower than in November 2025, when 57,436 units were sold. This typical year-end decline is often attributed to inventory adjustments and production cycles, rather than demand collapse, and is common across most OEMs toward month closes.

However, Tata’s performance remained solid on an annual basis and helped underpin broader confidence in the company’s product portfolio and distribution strategy.

Quarterly and Annual Momentum

Beyond December itself, the Tata car sales in December 2025 contributed to a strong finish for the calendar year. In Q3 FY26 (Oct–Dec 2025), Tata’s passenger vehicles totaled 171,013 units, representing an 22.30 % year-on-year increase over the same period in the prior year. This quarterly strength was supported by consistent SUV demand, uptake of new launches and overall market trends favoring cleaner powertrains and feature-rich models.

For the entire calendar year 2025, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles reported 587,218 units sold, marking the fifth consecutive year of record annual sales and reflecting broad acceptance of Tata’s strategy across segments and geographies.
